The origin of “0”, the number of infinity 
Shakespeare has said that zero is figureless, it is neither a negative nor a positive number. Zero is a wonderful number. Its intrinsic meaning is emptiness and nil while on the contrary it stands for things of all kinds. What looks like real but actually is nil; what looks like nil but in reality encompasses everything. All these are full of contradictions. Zero can act as a place holder in a decimal counting number system, and it can also be considered as a number in calculations carried out in our daily lives, as a center of orient, as a special element in algebra. Also it is also a collection of philosophical ideas which are similar but yet different, which are different yet similar. Lao-tzu, a Chinese philosopher in ancient China, has said “All things are born from Have, and Have was born from Have Not”, have not that does not exist to be  the very existence of have not. In ancient India, when people used numbers from 1 to 9 to stand for numbers exceeding 10, they usually treated numbers up to 10 as a group and placed it on the left, while the rest of the balance was placed on the right. For example the number “12” in itself meant “10 grouped as a group”, “2 was listed as the balance”. If the balance “2” did not appear, then simply wrote “1” on the left while the right hand side was left blank. But a problem arose here, if the right hand side was left blank all the time, then how were “1” and “10” to be differentiated? Therefore, in ancient India, mathematicians simply added a small circle “0” to the right to represent “10”, this was the origin of the number “0”. When the ancient Indians learnt the infinite use of “0”, this finding was spread to Europe and then Asia by the Arabians. The invention of the symbol “0” was a major event in the development of mathematics, philosophy and the human culture, but what was more important was the concept behind “zero”. When one looks at zero there is nothing at all, but through it, we see the whole world. Zero is the abstract of abstracts, what the Buddhists called “The wonderful have of real nothingness”, “Nothingness is nowhere, while nothingness is there.” It is known that the great French poet Hugo had a famous saying of “When the infinite large appears, every number turns into zero.” In the course of the development of numbers by mankind, the circle “zero” did not stand for an end, but an entrance, just like when the philosopher Jason Netherton made an analogy of “The United States is a zero nation, we started from zero, from nothing and emptiness, this is America. We seek the beginning starting only from our own rationality and aspiration.” Zero includes everything, and is also included in it.

“4” is simply unlucky

To both Chinese and Japanese the number 4” represents bad luck. The Chinese and Japanese think that “4” sounds like “death”. In the course of the development of numbers by mankind, the circle “zero” did not represent an end, but an entrance. The pronunciation “death” sounds unlucky, therefore many buildings, vehicle license plates, roads, hospital room numbers avoid using “4”. But do you know that in ancient times “4” stood for good fortune. The school of mathematics developed by the father of ancient Greek mathematics Pythagoras frequently matched “4” with circles. In terms of number, “Four” itself is the number that can be used to create the most basic three dimensional solid or four dimensional thing. The Chinese also use “four” to make hidden analogy of “completeness”, therefore there are sayings of “building a home in the four seas”, “everybody within the four seas are brothers”. In China the four directions of “east, south, west and north” are in units of “4” as well, while the ancient Indian Ayurveda medical system was based on “fire, air, water and soil”, the 4 elements which made up the “world”.

The findings of so many co-incidences can only be explained by the author as “co-incidence”, this fact is really intriguous, or perhaps it was the matched seat for persons frantically obsessed with the mystery of numbers.

Is it really very unlucky on a Black Friday?

Many persons have heard that Black Friday stands for bad luck. Where does Black Friday come from? This sort of saying originated from the teaching of Christianity. According to which by chance there were 13 seats at the Last Supper when Judas betrayed Jesus, and the crucifiction of Jesus occurred on a Friday, since then any Friday which falls on the 13th is cursed and is unlucky.

As early as in those days when the school of mathematics that championed the “light and darkness” of numbers headed by the father of ancient Greek mathematics Pythagoras, numbers were found to contain certain mysteries. Under the European Union system, economic, cultural, technological and commercial activities of every country will grow, we believe that soon it will not be difficult to find labels such as “made in Europe” or “made in the European Union” replacing the “made in France”, “made in Germany” or “made in Italy” labels of narrower sense.
